To get to either exit, all you need to do is hop across stuff (boxes in some cases, logs in others) to get to the doors. This is the #2 door, believe it or not, but we're not going to leave yet. Once it rests, follow it, and ride the gear there to the left. Now, you can hop on the nearby log to go around the box stack and into the newly exposed archway. Head back and hop onto the large gear. You'll pass over the ship, and you can descend another set of stairs.
